One of the dogs saved by Michael Chopr from the Southeast Asian me.at tr.ade has brought thousands of people to tears. During a visit to a slaughterhouse in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Michael met Sanie, a dog who had captured his heart. The dog was only 4 months old and was [ab.du.cted and so.ld to the sl.aughte.rhouse].

Michael Choрr is an animal rescuer. He is the founder of the Sound of Animals and is an animal lover. Michael witnessed the fr.ightened dogs in the sl.aughte.rhouse, including Sanie. She was hiding behind a cage while gr.oa.ning in [fe.ar] as she wi.tne.ssed other dogs being k.il.led for me.at. Sanie exp.erie.nces moments of [men.tal ag.ony] in her life as the minutes waiting for her turn.

Michael tries to save the three dogs left in the cage, but the sl.aughte.rhouse owner only agrees to sell him Sanie because the other two dogs have already been so.ld. Michael slowly approached the [fr.ighte.ned] dog by reaching out his hand and repeatedly comforting her.

When Michael held Sanie’s head, she was ter.rifi.ed because she believed her time had come. But within minutes, she calmed down and that was a sign that she felt safe in Michael’s embrace. She knew she was rescued!

However, the fe.ar returned when Michael le.ft her. She tried to hold him back and buried her head in his neck. Afterward, Sanie reluctantly parted with Michael.

By the time Sanie was completely free, she never let go of Michael, even after they went to the vet. She’s really sweet and whimsical. Michael knows that she knows he is her savior and decides to stay with him forever. For Sanie’s sake, Michael tried to find her previous owner to no avail. But Michael is willing to keep her safe and healthy until she has overcome her fear and found a new home.
