The elephants in the circus are not as happy as you might think; circus tricks such as balancing, painting, and swinging the trunks all require the elephants to go through training that is almost torture to them.
Mia and Sita, two circus elephants, were fortunate to be saved from [dec.ades of exp.loit.ation]. They are [ch.ained] when they are not performing and can never fully lie down for true rest.
Volunteer organizations have made every effort to save these unfortunate lives.
Mia and her friend Sita were taken to a special elephant convoy that traveled more than 1,200 miles through heavy rains, day and night, to the Elephant Conservation and Care Center run by Wildlife SOS in Mathura, India.
It’s been a long and exhausting journey, but it’s been full of hope!
Mia seems to collapse with joy as she arrives at the sanctuary, free of her [sh.ackles]. She lay down and relished her first moments of freedom.
Mia was recently spotted blissfully napping, a luxury she hasn’t had in decades. Only those who suffer from insomnia understand the [exh.aus.tion] that comes with a lack of sleep. It is truly ev.il to tor.ture elephants by denying them rest.
Mia is happier than ever and isn’t afraid to face reporters who want to interview her. As a videographer approached, she kept her head held high and clapped her ear toward the camera. She almost smiled for the camera… before collapsing on the delicious ground to continue sleeping.
