She is a golden brushtail possum!
The little possum was rescued after having fallen off her mother’s back and been “le.ft vu.lnera.ble” and alone.
Luckily, a kind soul found and rescued her, and brought her to the Boronia Veterinary Clinic and Hospital in VIC, Australia.

Golden brushtail possums are simply common brushtail possums – just with yellow fur instead of brown.
The golden colour comes from a particular mutation, which causes low levels of melanin.

That’s absolutely gorgeous 🥰

The golden possums’ bright fur makes them stand out to [pr.edators], which is one reason for why they are so rare.
But this lucky little girl, did not have to worry about all that.

She got all the care, comfort and safety she needed after being rescued, and went on to live with a carer until it was time to fo her to be released into a wildlife preserve.
