For Almost 25 Years, A Japanese Diver Has Continued To Visit His Best Friend Fish!

The fish looks as if it is smiling. Maybe it does smile when his/her diving friend comes to visit. 🤗🐟

Since it is frequently believed that fish do not experience love like other pets like cats and dogs, the friendship between people and fish appears implausible. Furthermore, the habitats of humans and marine animals are completely dissimilar, making this friendship seem very unlikely.

But one tale dispels all doubts: the incredibly strange connection between a diver and a fish, which these two friends have shared for more than 25 years. Everyone is baffled and amazed by this.

Hiroyuki Arakawa, a Japanese diver, is tasked with watching over a sacred Shinto shrine called a “torii”. However, this “torii” differs from others in that it is located below Tateyama Bay in Japan, necessitating frequent dives by Hiroyuki to inspect the location.

He recognized most of the sea creatures that used to live there, and a wrasse fish captured his attention; after a few encounters, it appeared to remember him, and regardless of how unbelievable the connection between people and fish may sound, it is obvious that science even supports it. There was research on this. It comes out that fish are capable of identifying human faces.

Hiroyuki gave the fish the name Yoriko, and ever since then, Yoriko has come to his side and tenderly caressed his head whenever he has visited. Even if it’s a little difficult to believe, this friendship is genuinely lovely and sincere.

Dr. Cait Newport and other researchers from the University of Oxford decided to investigate the matter. They trained the fish to select one of two photographs of a human face by directing a water jet at that image. Unexpectedly, the fish consistently made the proper decision.

The scientists, though, were unconvinced and made it a little more challenging. Photographs are taken, converted to black and white, and the head shapes are altered. And astonishingly, the fish correctly identified Familiar Faces 86% accuracy rate.
